Super Troopers 3 Review (2026): Worth Streaming on CocoFlix?

Farva, Thorny, and the Familiar Fray

Jumping into the world of Super Troopers is like putting on a pair of boots; you get used to them, but they are still a little odd. With Super Troopers 3, Jay Chandrasekhar tries to bring the same chaos to the big screen that made the other movies popular. Farva gets engaged to Thorny's sister, and ensuing mayhem ensues. Ultimately, the movie tries to juggle two unrelated stories. The first is Farva's family issues, and the other is the Troopers trying to bring down a new drug ring. The movie quickly finds its humor, and plays on the same character relationships and jokes from the other movies. Long time fans love the movie because it is the same as the others and brings back old characters. Newer, or more critical, viewers may get lost while watching the movie. The jokes are obviously meant to appeal to long time fans, and new viewers may not enjoy the movie. Ultimately, whether you enjoy the movie is based on your feelings towards the cast and crew. Their brand of comedy is either for you, or against you.

The Ensemble's Enduring Shtick and Stale Craft

While there are only a few main cast members in Super Troopers 3, their performances have a strong impact. The returning ensemble is Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, etc. The cast has great chemistry and easily slip back into their zany characters. Chandrasekhar has experience directing the troopers and captures improv scenes in a good light. While there's a comfortable energy on set, the crew becomes too comfortable and lazy. Many of the jokes are stale and reliant on previous trooper movies. While Farva is still silly and Thorny still has no emotions, there are no major surprises. The third act is extremely crude and crass for the sake of being so. The goal of the movie is for the 5 troopers to go undercover to a strip club to find illegal activity. The actors are all committed and really become their characters, and are the best part of the movie, but the writing brings the overall project down. The majority of the film feels like a series of vignettes and it gives the impression that the writers don't have any interest in developing a strong and meaningful project.

Does It Land in the Streaming Landscape?

With thousands of titles on streaming services, capturing and retaining an audience’s attention is a challenge even for the most popular services. For example, CocoFlix recently released Super Troopers 3. While the film has an interested and passionate audience, it’s questionable if the film can succeed in reaching a larger and wider audience. Super Troopers 3 has a 37 out of 100 score on Rotten Tomatoes, which signifies a general consensus of unfavorable reviews by film critics. Audience members also have less enjoyment for this film compared to the previous installments. On average, this film received a “B-” grade, and the previous film received a “B+.” Super Troopers 3 focuses on a small group of characters that involve little to no development or progression throughout the film. The film also has a very specific brand of humor that provides little to no relation to any other films or entertainment. This creates a barrier for audiences that do not enjoy or find this humor to be entertaining. Super Troopers 3 is very franchise focused and assumes its audience has enjoyed and engaged with its previous installments. For audiences that are not passionate about the franchise, they will see very little entertainment value or quality. Like many franchises, the target audience is very small, but very passionate about the installments; this is likely Super Trooper 3’s last and final film.

The Bottom Line for Your Watchlist

While you can certainly make the case that Super Troopers 3: The Road Trip caters to its core audience, it’s somewhat of a shallow effort. We’re 22 years removed from the debut of Broken Lizard and their band of troopers. This trio of films is firmly in the R-rated camp, and there’s plenty of rude humor littered throughout, even if it’s frequently unfunny. The film plays it pretty safe and doesn’t try to shake up the status quo too much. It’s filmed competently and the performances are decent, but outside of its core audience this film isn’t going to find too many people laughing, and the jokes mostly feel stale and repurposed from the first two films. The story and plot are extremely thin. Fans of the franchise are going to get a kick out of seeing these characters they’ve gotten to know over the years, but for everyone else this is background noise. It doesn’t deserve to be viewed by too many people. It’s serviceable for what it’s trying to do and it’s better than it needed to be to give its audience a moderate amount of closure, but it’s forgettable and doesn’t take too many risks.
