A Body Appears at the Family Manor
It's at the manor where Flavia begins her investigation.
One night, Flavia finds a body in the family's cucumber patch. Discovering a dead body tampers with one's desire to seek answers, and for someone who is keen on both chemistry and mystery, this makes for a perfect opportunity to combine her interest in the two and put them to good use.
It gets more serious when her father, Havilland, becomes involved in the case.
It is known that in the book, he confesses to the crime, therefore forcing Flavia to take it upon herself to investigate and clear her father's name in order to find the truth. This gives the story a more heartfelt reason as to why the mystery has to be solved.
Flavia is not trying to simply prove to people that she is smart enough to solve a mystery. The case is personal and directly affects her family.
Martin Freeman Will Play Flavia's Father
Flavia's father, Colonel Havilland de Luce, will be played by Martin Freeman.
Of the supporting cast members, it is Freeman who creates the most important adult relationship in Flavia's life, next to the relationship Molly Belle Wright has with the title role.
Toby Jones will play Inspector Hewitt, offering Flavia an experienced investigator to come across during her search for the truth.jonathan Pryce plays Dr.
Cast members include Annette Badland as Mrs. Mullet, Karan Gill as Dogger, Ariella Glaser as Ophelia de Luce, and Hannah New as Harriet de Luce.

The movie comes from the book series of Alan Bradley
Flavia is based on the mystery novels written by Alan Bradley.
Alan Bradley's books follow a young, scientifically minded girl from a literary family named Flavia de Luce.
Susan Coyne wrote the script for the movie and Bharat Nalluri directed it.
The series serves as a fictional world to draw upon for the film, including Flavia's family and the surrounding community.
1951 is an important setting. Without cell phones, the internet, or instant forensics, Flavia must use more traditional methods to investigate, like observation and deduction.
Although murder is a main plot point of the movie, the general audience appeal is family adventure.
According to The Numbers, the movie is a family adventure, historical-fiction, and murder-mystery, and is rated PG-13 for some violence.
The tone of the show is what sets it apart from adult detective shows.
It relies heavily on watching an intelligent child enter a world where adults control the rules and begin to spot connections that adults have overlooked.
When people come across the title while browsing Cocoflix, they should expect to see a combination of mystery, humor, and a period setting rather than a grim crime drama.
Flavia is slated for a U.S. theatrical release on December 4, 2026, by Magenta Light Studios.
It has already been released in other markets in 2026, including the U.K., prior to its planned U.S. release.
With Molly Belle Wright, Martin Freeman, Toby Jones, and Jonathan Pryce, the film introduces a young female detective whose greatest tools are her curiosity and knowledge rather than authority.
At its core, Flavia is the story of an 11 year old who discovers that her strange and unusual interests, which have made her different from her peers, may in fact help her solve a real life murder.
